World's ugliest hat?
My local Oxfam charity shop, which sometimes lists some of its quirkier items on eBay, posed the question. Big Ass Vacation Picture Post!
Corolla Beach Vacation 2008

I finally got done playing around with all 1300 photos from my vacation to the beach... *whew* that was exhausting! There ended up being about 300 of them, and they are all up on my Flickr if you wanna thumb through them *which would be totally cool of you to do :) *

Overall the vacation was all sorts of awesome. It was so great to spend the time with the family and just veg out all week. Waking up, eating breakfast, then spending the day in some sort of "swimming and relaxing" mode was definitely something i could get used to. The family spent pretty much every day hanging by the pool at the house or sitting on the beach, and of course I had my camera in tow the entire time.

I'm surprised that nothing seriously bad happened to it, considering the danger I put the damn thing in the entire week!

Anywho, save for one or two rough spots (my grandmother fell down the stairs and cracked her head open on an open door, but she's doing miraculously better now) it was a truly amazing week! If you ever get a chance to vacation down in the outer banks, I say that you do it!

Chicago-ians?
Hey there. My name's Stephen. I hardly ever post as I always check out the cute guys on here. So. I'm going to Chicago all of next week, and other than seeing "Wicked," I don't have much planned. Maybe go check out Millennium Park, and a few other things. It's pretty much spur of the moment.

So if anyone can meet/tell me what to do in Chicago, that'd be awesome! :D

Oh yeah. This is me.

a. At a sorority house?
b. The freezer of "health-conscious" stoners?
c. The product of misguidance, leading to a portrait of inconsistencies???

I'm gonna get you
Today was rather productive. After weeks (dare I say, even months?) of not cleaning my room, I decided to tackle it. What, you say? You think that so long between room cleanings is madness? Nay! I'm fortunate enough to not be a slob and can actually keep my floor and desk space free of clutter and such. My bed however, is another story.

L'anyhoodle, since I don't have any carpeting on my floor (or anywhere in the house, for that matter), dust accumulates QUICKLY. I don't have dust bunnies, they were full-grown jackrabbits--seriously, yo. So broom in hand, I decided those suckers had to go. A quick follow-up mop and my room was as pristine as a Hilton suite (maybe not Paris', but you get the point).

And because I haven't worn one in a while, I put on a bandanna/babushka to keep my brow free of sweat.

Looks! I even has pictures for you! )

My heart felt like a weight today.....
It began with reading this story from teh NY times magazine called "In Strangers, Centenarian Finds Literary Lifeline"

"Stephanie Sandleben, a yoga instructor with tattoos on each shoulder, just finished Chapter 19 of Tina Brown’s biography of Diana, Princess of Wales. Sara Nolan, a 28-year-old graduate student, is 30 pages into a Rumer Godden novel. Mark Kalinowsky, 48 and a real estate broker, has long since stopped reading; he just comes to chat.

These three disparate characters are part of a ragtag crew that cycles through the worn one-bedroom Murray Hill walk-up where Elizabeth Goodyear, who recently celebrated her 101st birthday, is confined after two knee operations. A lifelong lover of books, Ms. Goodyear lost her sight about four years ago, but in its place has acquired a roster of readers who stop by regularly, bringing with them dogs, gifts from their international travels and offerings of dark chocolate, the elixir she has savored daily since she was 3.

“Usually there’s something going on here,” Ms. Goodyear observed the other day during Ms. Sandleben’s weekly visit. “It’s strange. You’d think if you got to be 101, nothing much would happen. But it does.”

It started with a neighbor two generations younger, who once asked Ms. Goodyear to watch her bags while she ran back upstairs to fetch a bow and arrows for a trip to Maine.

As Ms. Goodyear grew more frail, the neighbor, a yoga instructor named Alison West, started stopping by to kiss her goodnight each evening. On learning that Ms. Goodyear had outlived her savings, Ms. West raised money to pay for her rent-controlled apartment and part of her home health aide’s wages. Then, about five years ago, she posted a sign seeking readers at yoga studios downtown and sent out an e-mail message that was forwarded and forwarded again.

But it was listening to her speak that made me brake out in tears. I should have smiled, because she has no regrets and TONs of memories, its a well known through out my friends that my biggest fear is growing old because its always associated with being alone. She has all those memories that will be gone when she leaves this earth. I hate that, I fear that! But at the same time I envy her, she isn't scared, so very brave-my heart swelled!

Just listen: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/07/31/nyregion/20080731_read-goodyear/index.html

Why Should I Hire You?
That's the killer question for most interviewees. I know I never really know how to answer it the way I am supposed to. The last time someone asked me that, it was the project manager that hired me here at The Compound.

He said: "According to HR, I have to ask this question: Why should I hire you?"
I said: "Well, you just said your department is short-handed, so I'd say that's a good enough reason."

Folks, don't try this in interviews. I only answered that way because at the time, I couldn't be bothered to give a shit.

For anyone else that gets stumped by it, here's some reading material:

Yesterday down!
My co-worker Erika from New Orleans is always saying (in her awesome "yah'll" and "ain'ts" southern accent) that she wished she was born with BIG kinky, curly hair so that she could work an afro. She currently perms her hair, but feels it's not enough to get Bigger bad ass fro she's always wanted!!!

SO I designed this fake ad for her....

A sense of expectation hanging in the air
Blake wasn't there on Saturday for my last shift. Actually, neither was half the crew. We seemed horribly short-staffed and it took me until almost store-open to finish up (from 10:00PM to 7:30AM)--LONGEST SHIFT EVER!

Sadly, I didn't get to say bye to most of the people. But I'll keep in touch with those that matter.

I spent all of Sunday relaxing and Monday was more or less my day to readjust to a regular schedule. This late post shows that there's still a ways to go. I have, however, showered for the evening, so I'm almost to bed as I type.

Earlier, Xander had treated me to an advanced showing of Pineapple Express (well, not actually "treated", he had a spare ticket he got for free and invited me along). Honestly, I hadn't seen a Seth Rogen movie before and very few Judd Apatow films, and if this is to be taken as a prime example of both of their finest works, I think I need to see what I've missed out.

There was hilarity throughout the majority of the film. Some parts were a little much (I won't say what), but the whole film was definitely worth it. Having not paid a single cent to see it, I think the LULz came more naturally than having had to force myself to think it was good so that I wouldn't think I wasted good money on it. Does that make any sense?

Anyway, that's all. Night!

Hi!
Just joined this group and wanted to say hi to everyone! Looks like there's a lot of interaction going around the community and I can't wait to interact with fellow chubs here... By the way, just a short intro: I'm asian and works for an American company in Chicago. I'm assigned at the offshore site of the company which is located in the Philippines. I'm the company's marketing lead and I just love what I'm doing. Basically I handle all Online/Offline Marketing campaigns of all our clients.

Anyway, that's it for now, back to work... *lol*

I love Duck Dirt.
I am crazy obsessed about 3 Cartoon Network shows right now. Am I the only person in the world that thinks CN is some high end-quality entertainment? They put out some great shit.

This show's my serious, obsessive crush. It's about a bunch of animated reality show stereotypes:

Total Drama Island

Two words: Brill. iant.

Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job

Fucking crack, man. I feel so post modern now. And the Steven and Stephen show is just a pure acid trip, it's almost aristocratic. It's about these creepy conjoined twins who get boners in every episode. (it's so wierd how that name can be spelled in two different ways)

Steven and Stephen: Duck Dirt

*Sigh* Cartoon Network is love.

Speaking of Stephen, that reminds me of Stephen Colbert in this clip. Bill O'Reailly's scarier than shit:

PS- Remember the amazingness that was Sifl & Ollie??? (RIP Best Show EvaR)

Entertainment is my favorite.

Old dog.... New tricks??

I feel so rusty when it comes to painting now a days. Move over Stella cuz I gotta get my groove back. Yeah I have an "art job" now and all but I spend my days making cutesy vector graphics. I need to make an effort to get back to where I was. So here goes... first attempt.
